The truth is that the modern Democratic party lacks charismatic communicators who can make people both laugh and cry. It lacks household names, larger-than-life characters, people who can cut through the noise in a way that Trump so relentlessly does. It lacks leaders who can express moral outrage on behalf of ordinary Americans.
